I'm one of those who has laughed when you walk along the street taking pictures of manhole covers, but, I have to admit this is definitely a work of art.

Great site. Ever since I was a little kid man-hole covers have for some reason caught my attention. And I somehow feel that they were one of the contributing things in life that
lead me to becoming a sculptor. Thanks, again great site!

It's really wonderful [that] the round plates can show the characteristics of a city. I will take a look at it [the] next time as I pass it.

Your website is amazing! I found out I'm not the only weirdo out there who loves manhole covers. Too bad my city is so boring compared to the gems from other cities around the world.

Truly great website!
I admire your (and others') dedication to detail on something we walk over every day and find material found on these pages inspirational.
Being myself into photography, I think I've decided to create a few entries to contribute this informative and well designed project!
So, keep up a good work and see you soon!

The manhole covers in Rome, Italy are inscribed "SPQR" (SENATUS POPULI QUO ROMANUS--THE SENATE AND THE ROMAN PEOPLE). This is the same inscription
the Roman legions carried on their banners in the time of the Caesars.

Thanks for a very cool site. I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only person who enjoys looking at manhole covers and considers them art!
