1. Umbrella vrs. manhole cover
I lived in Montreal when I was growing up. One rainy day walking home from school I (at the tender age of 6 and brimming with curiosity) pushed my closed umbrella down through a hole in the manhole. I thought it
would be neat to open my umbrella while it was down there.
I was dismayed to discover, once open, my umbrella would not close. I had to eventually walk away leaving my umbrella hanging upside down in the sewer. I still think of it from time to time.
